Kansas Business Group on Health reports

Projects that combine writing, editing and design are a favorite. They involve using a range of skills and working with a client from project conception to completion, including printing if needed. Kansas Business Group on Health’s annual report and survey results are recent examples. They’re affiliated with a health advocacy organization I’ve worked with for years and needed to create first-time publications detailing the group’s work and their inaugural survey on insurance coverage and costs.

The writing and editing involved taking bulleted text, fleshing it out and adding context in some cases and tightening it hard in others, all while making it cohesive and understandable. The design work included arriving on a concept that said both “medicine” and “numbers” and, with the survey booklet, choosing the best data to present and creating bar and pie charts. The result was two reports that clearly came from the same organization and templates we can build upon in the future.
